There will allways be people getting married,but there have been lots of changes made through the years. The most popular month for getting married used to be June, now August, Sept. And October are more popular. According yo the census report, approximately 2.3 million couples will wed this year.The average wedding will cost $22,000 dollars. THe cost of a wedding  has grown almost 50% in the last 10 years.

Along with the changes, THe menu at the reception has changed from the sit down formal meal to the gourmet mini cheeseburgers and french fries. another big change is couples are ordering walk up martini bars,also drinks that match their color scheme. another popular item orfered is the chocolate buffett, which serves chocolate dipped strawberries, cream puffs and mousses.

Couples are getting married later in life now waiting to complete their schooling.A lot more are paying for their own wedding or contributing to it.The average age for women is 27, for men its 29 years old. Couples want a very elegant affair. Women are moving away from the Beading crystal and tight up do's for hair.

Next is the Honeymoon. In addition to gift registries, there are now honeymoon registries, this allows family and friends to contribute financially to the honeymoon via custom web sites managed by travel agencies. Favorite destination used to be Hawaii, it is now European Cruises costing up from $3000 to $20,000.

When planning a wedding try to use a wedding cunsultant or a wedding coordinator to reduce the stress of planning a wedding. If you use a wedding consultant get everything in writing plus choose one with a fixed rate package or a flat fee based on services offered.

08.29.06 (9:40 am)   [edit]
In a city of 8 million people someone is always running their mouth.And you can bet someone is always around to hear it.Such as the woman on her cell phone who was heard saying I'rather be pole dancing. There is a new web site called Overheard in New York that is and internet sensation started by Morgan Friedman. The site traffic is 4 million views a month, and has inspired lots of imitators.People love sending in what they overheard at dinner or on the bus etc, thus the popularity of the site. Morgan has even written a book.ckeck out the site and read the crazy stuff overheard or send in what you overheard. I have a link to it, or just go to overheard in NY.

Price Controls lifted On Phone Service

08.26.06 (7:07 pm)   [edit]

We are already overtaxed and underpaid, so I was not very happy to find out that over the concerns of  some consumer group's CA. public utilities Commission has voted 5-0  to deregulate basic phone rates. This will allow companies like AT&T and Verizon to raise prices without any restrictions.

This decision ends 18 years of pricing regulations that limited what they could charge. these companies can now raise prices if they give the customer 30 days notice. They left in place price controls for local calls until Jan.09. This deregulation is supposed to level the playing field between large and small companies. The competition is supposed to keep the prices low.

The consumer groups acknowledge the so called competition but states that it has not reached the point where pricing rules are no longer required and I agree.

Parrots Create A Religion

08.20.06 (12:52 am)   [edit]

I wrote a blog quite some time ago about one of our fellow tbloggers that had started a forum about talkong parrots or Budgies as they are known.I found this forum very fascinating even though I no longer own a parrot. I enjoyed listening to the recordings of the birds and about the different owners and their experiences. I checked in 2 or 3 times aweek, then I lost interest, I suppose its because I din't have a bird. Its been over a month since I visited the forum, I received an email from R. Reynolds the  founder of the group stating that he was told by the parrots to start a new religion. I don't want to dispute what Ryan is saying but I am rather skeptical. I want you to read and form your own opinion.

Message sent to you follows:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
Some of you have probably been wondering why this forum has been so
quiet for the last four months. So what is going on in here? A religion in
a parrot research forum! Well there is a bit of a story behind it.
For the last 6 years or so there have been many budgies talking about
God and religion in the Budgie Research Group. A bunch of us decided to
figure out why we were experiencing these type of recordings from our
budgies who seemed to be making prophecies. Little did we know we were
about to venture into a three month training process from God. In this
process God used the budgies as a vehicle to get His word to us.
This is what developed. Many of you are going to find this hard to
believe and some Christians may even think this is evil, but we all have a
right to speak of what we believe is the truth especially if we have
proof that it comes from God. And God has given us the right to
administer his word as it says in the bible.
Also, God has promised that everyone who participates in this religion
and goes through the lessons will experience a vision and other
miracles. It has already happened countless times with people who have already
went through the process. You can review these miracles as they
happened in the lesson threads provided in this Eve of Revival in Religion
Forum.
In short, our budgies are actually communicating with the angels and
God and passing messages to us from Heaven. I know it sounds hard to
believe but you can't deny it once you experience the lessons for yourself.
Some of you have already been listening to the recordings or else you
wouldn't be here. You have probably notices that something miraculous
seems to be happening. But, even if you don't really believe in what has
happened here, you have a good opportunity to see how a religion is
formed. Especially one that parrellels those in biblical times. Jesus is
part of it, prophecies are coming true on a daily basis, and we have
miracles, visions and dreams which parrellel the book of Daniel.
Hello, Now Goodbye
08.18.06 (6:22 pm)   [edit]
My last blog was What Hello means and I want to thank all who commented:
One comment was particularly funny, it was opposite of hello, it was the meaning of goodbye wtitten by our good and  witty friend surrogate. I thought it was so funny and it would be selfish to keep it to myself, so enjoy the meaning of goodbye.
Know what goodbye means? (G)lad to see your back. (as opposed to, "glad to see you're back.") (O)ut of here... NOW! (O)nly time I'm happy is when you're leaving. (D)on't stay on my account (B)et you don't know how happy I'll be when you're gone. (Y)ou WERE welcome to be here, (but that was then.) (E)ven the rats want you gone. Goodbye.Toodles. Adios. Hasta la vista, Scram. That's why I say, "So long!"
Shame on Payday Lenders
08.15.06 (12:54 pm)   [edit]
Our young military men and women are already overworked and underpaid. They are separated from theit families, being sent back to Iraq three and four times. I have lost count of how many have lost thir lives over there. I know that this is what they signed up for when they joined the service. What bothers me most of all is the scum that takes advantage of them. The payday lenders, the highest number in the state of Ca. 70 to be exact surround Camp Pendleton.The interest rate is 460% and some places as high as 920% being charged leagally.Finally an amendent to the bill AB1965 has been introduced that would put a cap on the interest rate at 36%.The Ca. Judiciary Committee was scheduled to hold a hearing on it Aug. 8th. I pray that it passes. I am still trying to check on the decision made.
Ecoli found in salads
08.14.06 (3:48 am)   [edit]
Like most busy housewives looking for a fast way to serve a serve a nutritious meal to her family prepackged salads seemed like one of the perfect things,its allready cut up the package says that it has  been triple washed so just serve with your favorite dressing. Then I read in the newspaper that the FDA has issued a warning about an ecoli  outbreak in the salads, quite a few people became ill and had to be hospitalized after eating a certain mixed salad.One 11 yr. old girl almost died. A healthy child that became violently ill, she suffered kidney failure amd had to go on a dialysis machine 24 hrs a day for 18 days,thank God she pulled through and is now healthy. The first report  of illness started in Minn. the salads were from the dole company and has since been recalled.
This first outbreak occured in Oct.05. some people have gotten sick since then. Its still safe to eat the salads but its recommended that you wash it.
tips for salads
— Be sure you wash your hands before handling lettuce or any raw produce...especially if you have been in contact with any raw meat.
— Even though most of these bag salads are pre-washed and labeled “Ready to eat,” experts say it doesn’t hurt to wash it again.
— Keep that salad refrigerated.
— Check the expiration date before you eat it. Even if the lettuce looks good, you should know E.coli can grow quickly in greens that are deteriorating.
"1908 Tips for the home"
08.09.06 (12:00 am)   [edit]
I love to collect antique books.I have one that was published in 1908. Its all about practical household tips for the home and garden, lots of good sounding recipes and old fashioned remedies. The first page offers to pay one cent a word for all new discoveries and recipes.
I will be sharing some of the more interesting tips with you.It even has a section on caring for the body. I think that what was written then still applies today as for proper care of the body.There is a very interesting section on the importance of a daily bath which most people were unable to do unless you were wealthy because thet had no bathroom, so most people took a weekly bath on sat. night in a tin tub. they believed that all people should expose the body to air for a considerable time. Benjamin Franklin says that every morning at daybreak he would get out of bed and pass an hour or so reading or writing in his chamber without clothes.It was believed that the air and light on the skin was valuable for the preservation of health.
what was most amazing was the old fashioned remedies used. there were no regulations on medicine as it is today. For a common toothache,treatment was to use oil of cloves, alum, carbolic acid and for the pain use opium, ether, belladona or morphine,they did caution , use with care.
There are recipes for concotions to remove freckles, wrinkles, perfumes or remendies for sunburn a balding heads and dandruff.For those people that can't sleep at night,there is a recipe for something called Kumiss, sounds like something that will make you drunk though, its made with yeast and has to sit at least 36 hrs. before drinking.
there are lots of recipes for candy and doing all kinds of preserving food and meats if you don't have a refrigerator, hope it never comes to that again. Well I think that I have shared enough of this book for now. If you are interested in any of the recipes let me know.
"Beware Of New Scam"
08.02.06 (3:36 pm)   [edit]
Subject: CAUTION - Area codes; 809 or 284 or 876
Importance: High
I received this info today and asked to forward it on:
IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT AREA CODE !
We actually received a call last week from the  809  area code.  The
woman said "Hey, this is Karen. Sorry I missed you--get back to us
quickly. I Have something important to tell you." Then she repeated a phone
number beginning with 809 . "We didn't respond".
Then this week, we received the following e-mail:
Subject:  DON'T EVER  DIAL AREA CODE  809 , 284  AND 876
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY AT&T. DON'T EVER
DIAL AREA CODE  809
This one is being distributed all over the US . This is pretty scary,
especially given the way they try to get you to call.
Be sure you read this and pass it on.
They get you to call by telling you that it is information about a
family member who has been ill or to tell you someone has-been arrested,
died, or to let you know you have won a wonderful prize, etc.
In each case, you are told to call the  809  number right away. Since
there are so many new area codes these days, people unknowingly return
these calls.
If you call from the US, you will apparently be charged $2,425.00
per-minute
Or, you'll get a long recorded message. The point is, they will try to
keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase the charges.
Unfortunately, when you get your phone bill, you'll often be charged more
than $24, 100.00!
WHY IT WORKS:
The  809  area code is located in the British Virgin Islands (The
Bahamas).
The charges afterwards can become a real nightmare. That's because you
did actually make the call. If you complain, both your local phone
company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and
will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for
the foreign company. You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that
argues they have done nothing wrong.
Please forward this entire message to your friends, family and
colleagues to help them become aware of this scam
