Today was not one of my best days. Have you ever felt lousy and didn't feel like doing anything but staying in bed.Its been one of those days for me.Sore throat, ear ache and all the other symptoms of a viral infection.
No time to stay in bed though, this is one of the biggest party nites of the year.Bringing in the new year.I am working on doing some special designs for one of the parties being held at one of the big hotels. I don't know if any of you are familiar with the tower design, but its the one made in the thin tall vases. I did this design for a recent party an it was a big success. the problem this time was I tried to do it a different way. I decided to cut one part of the design element out and what a big mistake that was, As I was transporting it from one area to another the design started crumbling, my oasis was not strong enough to hold it, oasis is the wet foam that you stick your flowers in. I was in shock, it only happened with 2 designs but what about tomorrow when they have to be delivered to the party, I could imagine the rest of them doing the same thing, there was only one thing to do and that was start from scratch,take all the flowers out and use a different holder. It took some time but really I was thinking God that it fell apart in the shop and not when I was delivering them to the party.
Another valuable lesson learned, stick with the tried and true method that works.

We are very close to the start of a new year and I can't help but look back at the time that I have spent here at tblog.I have met many friends here that I feel very close to. There are people facing serious illness, divorces, dreadful jobs, financial problems, loneliness and depression. Others are experiencing some of the best moments of their lives, simply making it with dignity and a smile.We don't know what the future holds. Life is this: a mystery. Uncertain, fragile, delicate and scary. I want to dedicate this poem by the great poet Maya Angelou which is perfect for wishing you all the best wishes for a Happy New Year. Jealousy,the green eyed monster rears its ugly head.
Jealousy means "resentful and envious" of someones else
achievement or success.
Jealousy has a lot to do with how we feel about ourselves
and how confident we are.
A lot of jealousy start as children, thinking that a mother loves
one brother or sister more them them, or a grandmother shows favor to one child more then another.In some cases this is true and nothing hurts more. I meet adults that still carry the
pain of feeling second best.
The jealousy sometimes is over a job promotion that someone
got that you knew you deserved. Your best friend wears a size
two and you wear a size twelve.Your next door neighbor bought a Jaguar and you are still driving the old car that your parents gave you.your sister just bought a vacation home and you are still renting an apartment.There are many times that others seem
to be able to do more and have more and the little green monster will once again rear its ugly head.

I had a wonderful Christmas and Birthday. I want to thank whisper and all my tblog friends for all the well wishes.
It is now time to think about the coming year and making our new years resolutions.The most common resolutions are to quit smoking,gambling or drinking, I gave those up years ago I am going to start on a positive note.my first resolve will be to eat a more healthy diet and cut out some of the junk food. Second, to exercise more to improve my health.
Finally, the world is such a negative place and we all need to resolve to have a little more Love and Tolerance for each other in the coming year.

I have another blog on SoulCast. I find this to be a very interesting blog with some nice people there same as tblog. I still like tblog best.I recently came across a site that just made me sick to my stomach. It is a site devoted to promoting incest and living as a pedophile. Even though the man states that he is not a pedophile, but just and advocate for promoting it. He finds nothing wrong with messing with little kids.
I along with other bloggers find this to be outrageous. There have been lots of emails complaining to the head people in charge about banning or censoring this indivual but to no avail.
The reason being is that soulcast is a free global community where you can blog without restraints in full anonymity.
This sick indivual blogged tonight about all the hate aimed at him and reminded everyone about free speech. He quoted the Supreme Court Justice, "Oliver Wendel Holmes'who said "Freedom of speech means freedom for those idea you hate, as well as those ideas you love."
So he is going to continue to write his filth.The other bloggers decided that the only way to fight back is just to ignore his blog and ask that no one leave a comment.
This makes me love tblog even more, because we do have rules here and nick and rocky do a wonderful job trying to make sure that everything is in order.

I recenly read a story about a man that was facing an operation for throat cancer. the operation was supposed to save his life but not his voice, he knew that he would never speak again. The question was raised if you knew you were never going to speak again, what would your final words.It was said that this young man knew exactly how he was going to spend his last hour speaking. He told his wife and children how much he loved them. Then as he was given the anesthetic to make him unconscious , as he drifted off to sleep he said "Jesus!Jesus" those were the last words he chose to say.
The name of Jesus is so meaningful to a christian. It is a name that is above every name and as we approach this holiday season, Let's not get so wrapped up in material things and forget that" Jesus is the reason for the Season".

Eating comfort foods for Stress

The holidays are one of our most stressful times of the year.working everyday, taking care of the family and the pets. shopping for gifts, planning and going to parties.
Doing all this stress we usually comfort our selves by eating more of the comfort foods, which leads to more pounds being added on that we are just going to have to go to the gym and burn off later, but who wants to worry about that now. I went out for some late night shopping last night with my daughter. After shopping until we were ready to drop, I had one thing on my mind, Apple Pie A-la-Mode with a large scoop of vanilla icecream. So we stopped and indulged and told our selves that we deserved it.
A survey conducted by the American Psychological Association found that nearly all women in the US suffer from increased stress during the holidays, which contributes to rising levels of comfort eating, drinking and other coping mechanisms. I love the holidays but glad when its over.

On my other blog site, A young woman with a little girl almost four is asking for some badly needed help in dealing with a child having a temper tantrum.It seems that it doesn't take much to set this child off.The first incident happens when she wants her to spread her favorite blankie on the floor for her to lay on, she doesn't lay it on the floor flat enough to remove the wrinkles out of hello kitty face. The child attacks her clawing both sides of her face, kicks her,beats her with her fist and then bites her on the arm. The mom does nothing but sits quietly giving her time to calm down, all the while telling her to take deep breaths.
The second incident is the next day and her little darling is coloring a book and the phone rings, as soon as she says hello,that enrages her and the beating starts again with the biting and kicking. she tries time out but that doesn't work. Mom states that when her dad puts her on time out she stays but not for her.This
mom says that she needs some parenting advice bad but she wants you to keep in mind that they don't believe in spanking,so that is not an option.I
don't mind telling you that I was appalled that she was letting her child beat her like that. I spanked mine when they got out of hand, I also took away their privileges at times. How would you handle this child?
Why is the wife always the last one to know?

I have been saddened and depressed since last week. One of my very best friends found out that her husband of thirty years was having and affair with a young woman that was half his age. She only called to tell me that she was on her way to meet him to confront him with the evidence. She said she had pictures and statements where he had used the credit card for the Ramada inn, several times, gifts from Victoria secret etc.
There was nothing that I could say to her because I have been hearing rumors for quite awhile. I think it's true to say that the wife is the last one to know. It was something that I as a friend would never tell her,or would you tell your friend that her husband was having an affair?
She confronted him,he didn't really deny it. but now he is denying it and telling her he is sorry and that he loves her.She is so hurt and I am hurting right along with her. her husband is a high profile leader in the community and she said that she feels like a fool and wants to kill him. She is doing better after going to her counselor and talking to her lawyer.She is really in need of prayer for guidance in her life right now. I try to talk to her daily and just be a support for her. Some men are just dogs.

What type of friend are you? Are you a loser or a keeper?A loser is someone that you don't really want to be around.The loser type is a dictator, likes to be in control. and wants things their way all the time, after all they know whats right and makes you think that you don't.Another type of loser is the one always calculating and scheming,trying to outwit you. then there is the clinging vine, wants you to do everything for them and finally the Bully who uses anger and threats to get their way. You do not want to be this kind of friend and if you have one that fit these description, Lose them.
A keeper is one that will stick with you through thick and thin, In good times and bad times. when others turn their back on you,a friend will always stay. A true friend will stick closer than a brother.A true friend loves you an accepts you just as you are.

What do you say to ease the pain of a friend that thinks that her husband doesn't love her anymore. He waits until she is pregnant with his child to tell her that he never thought that she was attractive and that really her face is to long and horsey looking. Need I say that she is devastated to find out his true feelings about her. How could a man be so insensitive of another persons feeling? Some one that you are supposed to spend the rest of your life with.

Be careful when you buy your Christmas tree this year. one woman in California had her tree delivered to her home. when decorating the tree she felt a prick when she reached in but thought it was from the pine needles. the next morning, big surprise, there is a bat hanging upside down in the house. It turns out that the Christmas tree farm that she ordered the tree from keeps bats around for pest control and one just happened to be in the tree that was delivered to her.She called animal control and they came and got the bat..The bat tested negative for rabies. The woman had to get tetanus shots and antibiotics.I spite of her ordeal, she said she will still order her tree from the same tree farm.Very brave woman, the thought of a bat in my house makes me cringe.

A SPECIAL ONE TIME TAX CREDIT ON YOUR 2006 TAX RETURN
When it comes time to prepare and file your 2006 tax return, make sure you don't overlook the federal excise tax refund credit. You claim the credit on line 71 of your form 1040. A similar line will be available if you file the short form 1040A. If you have family or friends who no longer file a tax return AND they have their own land phone in their home and have been paying a phone bill for years, make sure they know about this form 1040EZ-T.
What is this all about? Well the federal excise tax has been charged to you on your phone bill for years. It is an old tax that was assessed on your toll calls based on how far the call was being made and how much time you talked on that call. When phone companies began to offer flat fee phone service, challenges to the excise tax ended up in federal courts in several districts of the country.
The challenges pointed out that flat fee/rate phone service had nothing to do with the distance and the length of the phone call. Therefore, the excise tax should/could not be assessed.
The IRS has now conceded this argument. Phone companies have been given notice to stop assessing the federal excise tax as of Aug 30, 2006. You will most likely see the tax on your September cutoff statement, but it should NOT be on your October bill.
But the challengers of the old law also demanded restitution. So the IRS has announced that a one time credit will be available when you and I file our 2006 tax return as I explained above. However, the IRS also established limits on how BIG a credit you can get. Here's how it works.
If you file your return as a single person with just you as a dependent, you get to claim a $30 credit on line 71 of your 1040.
If you file with a child or a parent as your dependent, you claim $40.
If you file your return as a married couple with no children ,you claim $40.
If you file as married with children, you claim $50 if one child, $60 if two children.
In all cases, the most you get to claim is $60 - UNLESS you have all your phone bills starting AFTER Feb 28, 2003 through July 31, 2006 (do not use any bills starting Aug 1, 2006.), then you can add up the ACTUAL TAX AS IT APPEARS ON YOUR BILLS AND CLAIM THAT FOR A CREDIT.
Now if you have your actual phone bills and come up with an ACTUAL TAX AMOUNT, you cannot use line 71 on your tax return. You have to complete a special form number 8913 and attach it to your tax return.
Individuals using the special from 1040EZ-T will have to attach this form 8913 also.
One final point - this credit is a refundable credit. That means you get this money, no matter how your tax return works out. If you would end up owing the IRS a balance, the refund will reduce that balance you owe.
If you end up getting a refund, the credit will be added and you get a bigger refund by that $30 to $60, depending on how many dependents are on your return.
