"What Is My Blog Worth"
I have Whisper to thank for my interest in what my blog is worth. He recently posted on blog worth. the post also pointed us to the Pingoat.com site where you put your url and then it would show what your site was worth. Whisper stated that his site was only worth 13,00 I think.Imagine my surprise when mr. pingoat said my site was worth 0.00, no inbound links and nobody was linking to me. This began my search to find out who did have people linking to them. To my surprise people that I assumed were popular like Pastor Dave and others also had no links.
Some of our friends had lots of inbound links. Some top blogs were rosietulips-$55.78 with30 links, scubadiva-$52.44 with 26 links and our old friend surrogate with one of the highest worth with $128.26 and 72 links, quite impressive.Well I have been doing my homework and got busy on increasing my blogs worth, I now have a total value of $4.34 with 2 links., not very much.
If you want to increase your blog worth, you can exchange links, some people even buy links. I don't plan on going that route.
In my opinion our blogs are priceless, as long as we post what is important to us and receive feedback whether its favorable or not. To me that is what matters the most.

wow. all relevant currency i s'pose. is there no limit to what we can consumerise and value financially? dont mean to be rude, but it disgusts me how we are so quick to jump and put dollar signs above things we already valued so highly. ehhh... ur hearts in the right place. :)

I got the same 'my site was worth 0.00, no inbound links and nobody was linking to me' :op and I didn't understand it much. Never mind, I know my blog is worthless :P but it means a lot to me anyway, cos I write to express not to impress anyone, like I said.
To me, this blog (yours) is more worth than just $4.34 without any proof, LadyG. I got to know lots of interesting things here. Stay cool :)

i would say "exactly"...you are learning that self-expression is more valuable than in terms of dollars and cents and who cares what some ping says : )

I have a link to your blog on my page..hmmm, I wonder why it didn't catch that?

My blog is priceless regardless of what Mr. Pinggoat says.
Also, "ping" is when people get alerts on blog enteries so maybe if your blog is not set to a ping alert by readers of your blog on their ping service, that could have a negative effect on your blog's "worth" making it worth only pennies or a few dollars.

I don't think their methods of calculating the worth of a web site/blog are very solid, since there are many factors that can influence value (such as the quality of the content, brand, marketing, profit *if any* --, etc). I do agree that obtaining inbound links; especially those from domains outside of tBlog may increase your exposure to the search engines, your Google page rank, and traffic to your blog.

I sincerely watch this topic with interested curiosity, and still don't know how to engage it. Please keep instructing us - both you, LadyG and if you're reading, Whisper. I'm not sure how to think about this - but am truly and sufficiently "newbie" for innocent naivete - what a luxury!

My blog is now for sale. Please remit the $128.00 as soon as possible. Cash is preferable. Unmarked bills with no receipt will earn the buyer a 5% discount on the transaction. Please send the money to LadyG. LadyG, please open a revolving charge in my name at your shop and keep the money for me in that account. Then when I need flowers, I'll use the money for that purpose. I will, of course, expect to be paid prime plus 5% on the funds. Pleas deduct a ten percent handling fee from the account once you've received the money from the buyer and use this 12 dollars and some odd cents to upgrade your computer as you see fit.
Thank you kindly.
