Pure Sex
04.22.09 (10:49 am) [edit]
A friend of mine received this postcard from a local church:
a postcard that on one side said "Pure Sex" with a photo of a man and woman's feet tangled from under a sheet on a bed. she flip ped it over and it said:
Pure Sex Series
1. Let's Keep It Sticky
2. Sex Happens Between The Ears
3. How To Make Love
You'll never guess who sent it. Never.
Alight, I'll tell you.
It came from one of the local churches! The lead pastor's last name is Lovins.
Seriously.
I can't make this stuff up!
Those three topics are upcoming Sunday worship services according to the card.
I know that they are trying to entice people to come to church but this does not seem right.

LadyG, did you not hear about pastor Paul Wirth who launched the 30-day sex challenge for his church members and delivered the sermon on a bed with his wife? I think it was a great message for teens to experiment sex -- after all their pastor is asking their parents to have sex.

Umm...very forward thinking! Sex sells, right? Your blog title sure got my attention! BWAHAHA But I'd have to agree...that doesn't seem very appropriate for church!

If you believe that God created everything, then it follows He created sex. It's vital for procreation, something encouraged in the Bible. Not only that, but the health of a couple's sex life can also be vital to a successful marriage. Pastors can talk all day long about the sanctity of marriage, but what's the point if they don't address the specific things that contribute to strengthening and maintaining the marriage relationship? People are shocked about how badly Christians behave and we're told to "love one another", but what does that mean?

I have also heard of the pastor that skumora mentioned - but I'm pretty sure he was encouraging MARRIED people with their spouces to address this issue in their marriges, not single, unmarried teens with raging hormones.

I agree with Pirate Girl...
There is a time a place and a purpose for sex...I think the Pastor should have private meetings with married couples...if he wishes to address this..not a public announcement!!
