B.O.A. Sucks
06.29.09 (3:13 am) [edit]
I need to vent a little about my bank. My husband opened a savings account for my granddaughter two years ago, so far he had saved $1,500 for her.
He recently decided to sign up for online banking to pay his bill. While checking his account online he noticed that the checking and savings was fine and all accounts was showing up except one grandchild savings. I told him that he should call the bank and inquire about it.
When he called the bank they told him that he was not the authorized owner of that account so they could give him no info on it. My husband was the one that opened the account for her and put money in this account for her every month so that was a shock.
He goes to the bank and he soon came back and said that he needed to take her to the bank with some identification. By this time I was really upset.
When he came back I found out that they had put her account under someone name Stella Shepherd, we don't know anyone by that name plus the fact that my husband was the one that opened the account. They finally straightened the mess out but how do a bank make a serious mistake like that?
I should not be surprised because this is the same bank that lost $21,000 of ours some years ago, he deposited a check for 22,000, a week later he found out that they had put it down as 2,200 but luckily I still had the deposit slip, you can't imagine the mess that was to get straight. I tried to get him to change banks then and he wouldn't do it so I didn't waste my breath arguing with him this time
Well I feel better just venting about them here.I recomend that you be sure to check your deposit slips and all transactions when dealing with the bank.

So sorry to hear this happened. Good thing he was checking into things. Suppose she went to withdraw some money at a later date, but with the wrong name on the account, who knows if she would have been able to get it. Again, good thing 'something' told him to check into it! Is this the same bank you have your business accounts with, or is it just your personal accounts?

Tis true...even Banks mess up!!Boa bounced a check I had written for some coins, they had put my deposit into my brothers account, but fixed it then!!...I made them call the coin dealer and explain to him, as I knew he'd never believe me if I told him the bank had made a mistake!!! but they were really good about it!!

Well, at least the boneheads didn't lose the money. Your husband should have opened a joint account.

Reply to: bawdy, Bawdy he haqs a joint account with me.
As for the 3 grandkids he has them on a savings account and they each get their own bank statement each month,
with this 1 account, which he was joint owner, they put a strager down.
There is no excuse for that.

If that happened to me, I would have closed all my accounts and taken them to another bank!! They were ridiculous! On the other hand, your husband is doing such a thing for your grandchildren!!

Once we went to the bank and they told us we had no money in our account!
We changed banks and we also shop around for the best interest rates on CDs, which sometimes means, we have a few bank accounts depending on who is paying the best rate.
